Quick answer

Bitcoin (BTC) is the original cryptocurrency — peer-to-peer digital cash, launched in 2009, secured by proof-of-work. It is the most liquid, most recognised, and most pseudonymous of the major chains. Swapping Bitcoin without KYC is the most common use case on SwapNoKYC: BTC to Monero for privacy, BTC to stablecoins for dollar-value transit, BTC to Lightning for fee-efficient micropayments.

About Bitcoin

Bitcoin is a UTXO-based blockchain with 10-minute target block times and a hard-coded 21 million supply cap. Every transaction is public and permanent — addresses, amounts, timestamps all visible on any block explorer. The pseudonymity is weak in the absence of coin-control hygiene: reuse an address once and chain analysis links the two transactions forever.

SwapNoKYC supports both native Bitcoin on-chain (L1) and Bitcoin Lightning (L2). Lightning swaps settle in seconds with sub-cent fees; L1 swaps take 2–3 confirmations (~20–30 min at normal fee market).

How to swap Bitcoin anonymously

  1. Withdraw BTC from any KYC\'d exchange to a self-custody wallet you control. Never send directly from the exchange to a swap deposit address — that creates an on-chain link between your KYC identity and whatever you swap into.
  2. Open the SwapNoKYC widget, pick BTC as the send asset, pick your destination asset. Paste the destination wallet address.
  3. A single-use BTC deposit address appears. Send the quoted BTC amount from your self-custody wallet.
  4. After 2–3 confirmations the aggregator routes the swap and pays out. Median end-to-end: ~8 minutes on a healthy fee market.

Bitcoin privacy notes

  • Change outputs are the biggest leak. If your wallet merges change with dirty UTXOs, chain analysis clusters your wallet. Use a wallet with coin-control (Sparrow, Electrum).
  • Address reuse is forensic gold. Always let the wallet generate a new receive address per transaction.
  • Lightning is more private for small amounts. Lightning routing obscures the path; on-chain Bitcoin does not.
  • Breaking the graph with a swap. BTC → XMR → BTC on SwapNoKYC severs the deterministic trace that on-chain-only tools use. Two hops is better than one.

BTC — common questions

Is KYC required to swap BTC?+
No. SwapNoKYC never requests identity, email, or an account to swap into or out of BTC. Each order is atomic — paste a destination address, send the deposit, receive the other asset.
Which network does BTC use here?+
This page covers BTC on Bitcoin. Multi-chain assets (like USDT or USDC) are listed separately per chain — pick the one that matches your destination wallet in the asset picker.
How long does a BTC swap take?+
Median end-to-end time is around 8 minutes, dominated by Bitcoin confirmation time on the send leg.
Is my BTC swap reversible?+
No. Once the deposit confirms on-chain, the swap routes automatically. Non-custodial aggregators use single-use deposit addresses by design — there is nothing for a custodian to freeze or reverse.
Can I swap Bitcoin Lightning to Bitcoin on-chain?+
Yes — pick BTC-LN as send, BTC as receive. The swap converts a Lightning invoice payment into an on-chain BTC deposit to your address. Useful for consolidating Lightning balances into cold storage.
What is the Bitcoin network fee?+
Shown live in the widget before you confirm. Varies with mempool congestion — typically $1–$10 equivalent for a normal-priority transaction.
Can I send from a hardware wallet?+
Yes. Sign the transaction on your Ledger / Trezor / Coldcard as usual — SwapNoKYC does not care how you sign, only that the deposit arrives at the single-use address.
Does SwapNoKYC see the Bitcoin I swap?+
We see the pair, the amount, the deposit address, and the payout address — the minimum required to render the order page. No identity metadata ever. Records purged on settlement.
