Methodology

How we actually grade

Every cell in the matrix above maps to a specific, falsifiable claim in the competitor's public documentation. We never grade from marketing copy alone — cells come from the terms of service, the privacy policy, the AML page, the FAQ, or the most recent independent review when those are silent.

  • Account. "Never" means the swap flow does not surface any account UI, anywhere. "Optional" means the swap works without one, but the marketing pushes one. "Required" means you cannot complete the swap without creating one.
  • KYC posture. "Refund-first" means the written policy on flagged orders is to refund the deposit, never request identity. "Risk-based" means the policy reserves the right to ask for ID under certain risk signals. "AML hold" means flagged deposits are held pending a recovery flow.
  • Float + fixed. Whether both rate modes are available on every supported pair. "Partner-dependent" means the answer depends on which partner the meta-aggregator routes to.
  • Trackers. Whether the frontend loads third-party analytics, ad pixels, or behavioural tracking. "None" means a clean network panel; "Minimal" means one privacy-friendly tool such as a self-hosted Matomo with anonymised IPs; "Yes" means at least one mainstream analytics or ad-tech script.
  • Zero-logs. Whether the privacy policy enumerates what is logged, for how long, and what is purged. "Explicit" requires a published list with retention windows; "Stated" means a non-tracking claim without enumeration; "Not enumerated" means no specific commitment.
  • Assets. Number of unique tickers across all networks, sourced from the competitor's currency list endpoint or asset page. Counts vary by methodology; we use the same one across services.
  • Architecture. "Direct aggregator" means the service operates its own routing layer. "Meta-aggregator" means it compares quotes across other aggregators and routes through the winner.

We include ourselves in the matrix using the same criteria. The cell colours mark categorical wins, not subjective "better" — a green cell is a falsifiable advantage, not an opinion.
